Drawings
I began my artistic career at age three when my father showed me how to draw with pen and ink. I painted my first oil on canvas at age eight. Two decades later I was illustrating magazines, mostly literary, and small press books. I have illustrated eight volumes of poetry most notably for Esther Leiper, the poet laureate of New Hampshire.

This escalated into a few national and international publications and by the age of thirty, I had published over 2000 drawings in more than two dozen magazines.

I have illustrated short stories by Joyce Carol Oates and Mark Helprin. In 1983 my collected drawings were published in a book; "Avante Ink."

For seven years I was a staff illustrator for Crosscurrents Magazine and a frequent contributor to Pennsylvania Magazine and The North American Review, the world's oldest continuously published magazine.

Paintings

Encouraged by artist friends, I began to paint seriously at age 40. When I completed my first seven paintings I showed them to a gallery and was immediately put into a group show and offered my first solo show a year later. Since then I have had 24 shows, five of them solo, in numerous galleries around Los Angeles.

In 1984 I painted a 25 x 72 foot mural on the west wall of the Original Pantry Cafe in downtown Los Angeles commemorating the Olympics.
From 1994-96 I was represented by the Rachellelozzi Gallery in Los Angeles, and from 1996-2000 was represented by both the sales and rental galleries of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the UCLA Armand Hammer Museum of Art.
My paintings are in the private collections of actors Daniel J. Travanti and John Forsythe.
